Even without the golf clubs along for the ride, the Highlands of Scotland are a must see – a beautiful part of the world in which to spend some time. When you factor in the quality of the golf courses on the coast North of Inverness, it becomes a journey that every golfer should make.

This 54 hole competition for mixed pairs, which will be played alongside our Links Cup Pairs the same week, will showcase three Highland gems – the unique links-parkland-heathland mix that is Golspie, the world renowned and highly rated Royal Dornoch, and the classic James Braid designed links of Brora.

THE EVENT

GOLSPIE

Formed in 1889 and offering lovely views of the Dornoch Firth, Golspie provides an enjoyable experience with its rather unique mix of links, heathland, meadowland and parkland holes. The course has plenty of character and, although it appears straightforward on the card, our pairs will need to make sure they are on their game to post a good score.

ROYAL DORNOCH

Royal Dornoch is simply bucket list golf at its finest. The reputation, setting and history of this superb links mean that professionals and amateurs alike travel here from all over the world. Indeed, Ben Crenshaw, Greg Norman and Tom Watson are among its biggest fans, with the latter describing it as “the most fun I ever had playing golf.” It is often referred to as the best course in the UK not to have hosted an Open, and is a real treat to tackle.

BRORA

Brora is a traditional course with an out and back layout running alongside the breath-taking North Sea coastline. Brora remains the headquarters of the James Braid Golfing Society and was regarded by its President Peter Thompson as “one of the finest natural links courses that I have had the pleasure of playing.” Can our golfers keep their focus amidst such stunning scenery?

The Rules

> All competitors will play in pairs at each of the three courses during the competition.
> The event is a 54 hole Betterball Stableford competition, and the pair with the highest score after the three rounds will be declared the winner.
> Prizes will be presented following Round 3 – any prize winners not in attendance must contact the organisers to claim their prize, and will be liable for any costs incurred in sending their prize to them.
> As well as prizes for overall scores, there will also be prizes available each day.
> The event organisers reserve the right to amend the format of the competition should the number of entrants or weather conditions dictate.
> All entrants must be amateurs and members of recognised golf clubs, and hold an active or competitive handicap.
> Overseas entrants must provide proof of their exact handicap, which will be adjusted according to the Slope Rating of their home course.
> CDH numbers or handicap certificates must be provided before the start of the event.
> Entrants must be over the age of 18 on the date of the first round.
> Maximum handicap allowance is 24 for men and 36 for ladies – 90% handicap allowance is given.
> A draw will be produced for each days play, and the event will be played in 4 balls.
> Should any entrants wish to withdraw from the event, a full refund (less any charges incurred) will be guaranteed up until 2 months before the start date of the event. Withdrawals after this date will receive 50% of their entry fee, unless a replacement can be found.
