Always presented in excellent condition, Saadiyat Beach was designed by the legendary Gary Player. This was the Arabian Gulf’s first beachfront course when it opened up for play in early 2010, and it winds its way around the 5 star hotels and luxury villas that now line the water’s edge.
With views of the ocean and Saadiyat’s white sandy beaches prevalent throughout the round, there is a chance you might spot some dolphins. Failing that, you can be fairly confident that the Island’s famous gazelles will make an appearance sooner or later.
As you would expect being so close to the coastline, sand is without doubt the main feature of the course. There are numerous sandy waste areas to avoid, and all of the holes are well bunkered, so clever course management and solid ball-striking are essential if you want to post a good score.
It is hard to pick a favourite hole but the 18th is certainly a fine one to finish on. It is a par 4 played around the left side of a lagoon to a sloped green. With so many challenging holes to navigate, Saadiyat Beach is undoubtedly a great test of golf, and one not to miss on any trip to Abu Dhabi.
