The Mixed Pairs Cup was first staged in 2017 at three fantastic links on the Southport coast. The emphasis is always on fun and enjoyment as well as the golf, and the event has proved very popular with couples from across the UK and beyond who want to socialise with other like-minded golfers.

Southport & Ainsdale is a two-time former Ryder Cup venue and regularly ranked among the UK’s Top 100 Courses. The course has played host to Final Qualifying on many occasions, as well as numerous other important events over the years. One of James Braid’s fine creations, S&A is a true championship links where accuracy is often more important than length, as the sea breeze, heather, gorse and sand hills combine to provide our opening day test.
The event continues with 18 holes at West Lancs – a challenging links summing up the true flavour of seaside golf. The course has staged numerous important events in its history, including numerous Open Championship Final Qualifying rounds. Our mixed pairs are in for an extraordinary golfing experience as they begin the competition.
The course at Hillside meanders through majestic sandhills and tranquil pinewoods and is set as two loops of nine – the second of which was described by Greg Norman as ‘the best in Britain’. It is easy to see why these holes are so highly regarded, as they weave their way through some of the highest and wildest dunes in the region. Without question, Hillside offers links golf at it’s finest.
> All competitors will play in pairs at each of the three courses during the competition.
> The event is a 54 hole Betterball Stableford competition, and the pair with the highest score after the three rounds will be declared the winner.
> As well as prizes for overall scores, there will also be daily prizes for each day.
> Prizes will be presented following Round 3 – any prize winners not in attendance must contact the organisers to claim their prize, and will be liable for any costs incurred in sending their prize to them.
> The event organisers reserve the right to amend the format of the competition should the number of entrants or weather conditions dictate.
> All entrants must be amateurs and members of recognised golf clubs, and hold an active or competitive handicap.
> Overseas entrants must provide proof of their exact handicap, which will be adjusted according to the World Handicap System.
> CDH numbers or handicap certificates must be provided before the start of the event.
> Entrants must be over the age of 18 on the date of the first round.
> Maximum handicap allowance is 24 for men and 36 for ladies – 85% handicap allowance is given, plus any mixed tee adjustments that apply.
> A draw will be produced for each days play, and the event will be played in 4 balls.
> Should any entrants wish to withdraw from the event, a full refund (less any charges incurred) will be guaranteed up until 2 months before the start date of the event. Withdrawals after this date will receive 50% of their entry fee, unless a replacement can be found.
We have teamed up with some local accommodation providers to offer our competitors discounted room rates when staying in the area for the week of the event. These preferential rates are only available when booking through Hybrid Golf, the event organisers, and not directly with the hotels themselves.
The Waterfront Hotel is a luxury 4-star hotel set a short distance from our two Links Golf Salver courses in the heart of Southport’s waterfront development. All rooms are lavishly designed with bespoke furniture providing guests with a comfortable home away from home.
